A Meditation Retreat is a wonderful opportunity to quietly look within. When we retreat from the world of our normal everyday lives, the workings of the mind can be more easily seen. Identification with conceptual belief patterns can be released, revealing a Silence and Stillness that is full of love and peace, the Essence of our Being.

Retreats bring together like-minded individuals, creating an energy and community where one's meditation practice and inquiry into Life can further deepen and become firmly established.

Aruna's retreats are suitable for both the beginner and the experienced. The retreats are mainly conducted in silence except for the evening talk & discussion, guided instructions, relevant questions and the first & last meals of the retreat. Instructions and guidance in different meditation techniques will be given. These will involve the breath, body scanning, Self-enquiry, & walking meditation. Aruna will give some Talks with discussion and question time. Private one on one interviews will also be offered to help clear any doubts that might arise for participants. An optional morning Yoga Asana session with a trained yoga teacher will be on offer on the weekend and summer retreats. The Yoga Asana session on other retreats will be self practice.

Weekend Retreats

Weekend Retreats are a great introduction to meditation for beginners and are a convenient way for those experienced in meditation to do some intensive practice.

 

4 Day Meditation Retreats

Both the 4 Day and 4 Day Extended Retreats will give the opportunity for participants to do an extended Meditation Retreat in silence. The 4 Day Extended Retreat continues on from the Weekend Retreat, finishing on the Tuesday afternoon. The daily program is basically the same as the weekend with the Yoga Asana session being self practice.

Doing a longer retreat with silence allows one to very deeply inquire within. Deep unconscious patterns of mental and emotional past can be met and dissolved with the Light of Awareness. There is enormous potential for inner transformation and healing, and a deep resting into the Essence of Life, an eternal peace of moment to moment Being.

Venue & Accommodation & Meals

On all the Retreats delicious and healthy vegetarian meals, beverages, fruit and snacks will be provided. We are happy to cater for any special dietary requirements.

The Healesville Retreats are held at the beautiful and peaceful Maitripa Contemplative Centre near Healesville, Victoria. The centre is set on 50 acres and is surrounded by State Park forests. All participants will have their own room with shared toilet and shower facilities.

What to Bring:

  • Yoga Mat
  • Meditation cushion or stool- if you have one- if not we can provide this or a chair
  • Meditation & Yoga blanket(s) or shawl- to keep warm
  • Full bedding- pillow, sheets and doona or sleeping bag
  • Warm clothes
  • Towel & Toiletries
  • Walking shoes to enjoy the surrounding bush
  • Sunscreen and sun hat
  • Water bottle
  • Mosquito repellant and net- optional but handy
  • Torch



Cost and Registration:

The Weekend Retreat is $390 full or $350 concession.

The Optional 4 Day Extended Retreat is $550 full or $495 concession.

The 4 Day Australia Day Long Weekend(24/1/13 to 28/1/13) is $550 full or $495 concession.

The cost of all Retreats include all sessions (meditation & yoga), delicious and healthy meals and accommodation.


To register for a Retreat please email or phone Aruna Giri (see contact details below) and he will email or post a registration form. To secure your place, please send the registration form and a deposit of $100 by either direct deposit (Bankwest bsb 303-545 account # 000 227 0) or cheque or money order made out to: Aruna Giri to 86 Blair St, Coburg, 3058. Full payment is due one week before the start of the retreat.
Refund Policy: A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required to secure your place. If there is a cancellation one week or more before the start of the retreat the full amount MINUS the non-refundable deposit of $100 will be refunded. For any cancellations less than one week before the start of the retreat there will be no refund. If the retreat is cancelled by the Organisers, then your full payment including your full deposit will be refunded.
